Despite a sore left knee, Cam Neely scored three goals, including his 300th, to lead the Boston Bruins to a 6-3 victory Thursday night over the Calgary Flames at Boston.

“I guess there was a point when I didn’t know if I’d ever reach 300, so it was gratifying,” said Neely, who is limiting his playing time this year to preserve the knee that kept him sidelined for most of the last two seasons.

Neely woke up Thursday with little pain in the knee and told Coach Brian Sutter he wanted to play.

Neely, limited to 22 regular-season games the past two years, said he will be careful not to overdo it.

“As long as I don’t skate too many consecutive days I should be all right,” he said.

Ray Bourque, Ted Donato and Glen Wesley also scored for the Bruins.

Toronto 3, Detroit 3--The Maple Leafs rallied for two third-period goals and got great goaltending from Felix Potvin to salvage a tie at Detroit.

Potvin finished with 45 saves, including 20 in the third period.

Toronto managed only seven shots in the final period, but scored twice on power plays. The Maple Leafs got within one at 9:00 on Wendel Clark’s goal and tied the score at 12:35 when Clark set up John Cullen for a goal.

Philadelphia 4, Quebec 1--Dominic Roussel’s off-season conditioning paid off as the goaltender recorded his league-leading 11th victory at Philadelphia.

Roussel almost didn’t make it past the first period after the goalie collided behind the net with teammate Jason Bowen.

Roussel turned away 27 of 28 shots to gain the victory.

Chicago 4, N.Y. Islanders 2--Brent Sutter’s short-handed goal late in the first period and Ed Belfour’s 36 saves at Chicago helped the Blackhawks snap a three-game losing streak.

Chicago is 15-3-3 in its last 21 games against the Islanders and Belfour is 8-0-1 against New York.

The Islanders made it 3-2 on Derek King’s power-play goal at 2:30 of the final period, But Brian Noonan’s goal at 13:20 gave the Blackhawks a two-goal edge.
