THOUSAND OAKS : Cal Lutheran to Host Asian Cultural Fest

Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks will host an Asian Cultural Festival, including three one-woman plays, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Actress Jude Narita will present excerpts from her latest work, “Stories Waiting to be Told.” The play, which will open at the Los Angeles Theater Company on Nov. 19, is a multi-character comedy/drama dealing with the lives and expectations of different Asian women. Narita has received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for a previous work.

Amy Hill, an actress and writer, will perform an excerpt from “Tokyo Bound,” an exploration of multicultural heritage and identity.

Hill has been in more than 30 productions in San Francisco’s Asian American Theater Company, as well as in several films and television shows.

Writer and performer Sandra Tsing Loh will perform excerpts from her play, “My Father’s Chinese Wives,” a comedy about a 70-year-old Chinese man selecting a new Chinese wife via mail. Loh has performed in several plays and also works as a free-lance writer.
