WHERE’S BOB? Charlotte Goble, a second-grader at El Morro Elementary in Laguna Beach, is searching for a firefighter to thank for taking time mid-crisis to be nice. At school Monday, she found a note that read, in part: “Charlotte, thank you for letting me sit at your desk. We used your room to eat our breakfast after fighting the fires. You have a really neat classroom. I hope you had a really fun Halloween. They are calling us back so we can fight some more fires and save some more houses. Your friend, Robert the Fireman.”

NO ANNIE’S HALL: After recent media attention about Annie’s House in Costa Mesa--a home for AIDS patients--a Tustin deli was inundated with calls from potential donors. The deli’s name: Annie’s Place. Says owner Ann Noad: “I had ladies offering me commodes and all kinds of things. What do I do with a commode in a deli?” . . . . Noad tracked down the real Annie’s House and kindly began passing on the correct phone number: (714) 641-7594. “There are a lot of people out there who do want to help,” says Noad.

BEAUTY PLUS: Fabio, Cosmo’s “Sexiest Man in the World,” has bared his overdeveloped pecs on the covers of more than 500 romance novels. Since then he’s made millions with calendars, videos, TV and appearances. Tuesday, he’ll be at Bullock’s South Coast Plaza to pitch the new fragrance Mediterraneum and sign a few autographs. Fabio on his looks: “My strength comes from within and will be there when the beauty vanishes.”

BRIDGE MIRAGE: If you look on Page 888 of the new Thomas Bros. map, you’ll see a Banning Avenue bridge crossing the Santa Ana River in Huntington Beach. Of course, there is no bridge there. But the county is studying plans for it, and opponents are dismayed that the Thomas Bros. map indicates it’s already a “done deal.” . . . Not so, says Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder. She opposes that bridge and a second one across the flood channel. “No one has proven to me these bridges are needed,” she recently wrote the Planning Commission.
