LOS ALAMITOS : City Will Consider Rezoning Vacant Lot

Share

A request to change the zoning of a vacant 1.9-acre lot on the city’s southwest border with Long Beach will go before the City Council today.

A developer, the Olson Co., and property owners Sharon Berg and Rush Labourdette are requesting the change to allow for a townhome project on Cerritos Avenue at Coyote Creek.

The change, from the current open-area designation to multiple-family residential, is necessary for the project to proceed, according to Community Development Director Elizabeth A. Binsack.

Binsack said the developer and property owners plan to build 53 townhomes in the area, in which 1.9 acres are within Los Alamitos and one acre is in Long Beach.

A public hearing will be held today on the request, Binsack said. The Planning Commission unanimously approved the zone change Oct. 4.
