Woman in U.S. Skinhead Probe Jailed After Failing Drug Test

Share

A woman arrested as part of a federal investigation into the activities of suspected skinheads has been ordered back into custody after she failed her seventh straight drug test.

Jill Scarborough, 22, of Anaheim tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine use, and U.S. District Judge Linda McLaughlin ordered her to report to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles after a hearing Friday in Santa Ana. She is being held without bail.

Scarborough and former boyfriend Geremy C. Von Rineman were charged in July with possession of a sawed-off shotgun in violation of federal weapons laws. Two undercover FBI informants befriended the couple and paid $400 for the shotgun, according to a federal complaint filed in the case.

Federal authorities say they believe Von Rineman was a member of the Florida-based Church of the Creator, a white supremacist group, and that Scarborough shared his views. The two exchanged vows in an extralegal “Aryan wedding” in 1990 during an “Aryan Fest” in Oklahoma, friends said. After Von Rineman was shot and paralyzed in 1989 after a race-related incident in Van Nuys, Scarborough wrote to the White Aryan Resistance newsletter asking that Von Rineman’s assailants be found.

Von Rineman and Scarborough are scheduled for trial Dec. 14. But Von Rineman, 22, who lives in Corona, is being evaluated for a chance to enter a diversion program, which could lead to the dismissal of the charge against him.
