Baldwin Park : Morgan Park Expands
Ground was broken Saturday afternoon for a 2.6-acre addition to Morgan Park, Baldwin Park’s oldest and largest city park.
The new green space expands the grounds a block to the east and will provide an increase in parking space, new playgrounds and basketball courts, additional barbecues and picnic areas and a wading fountain and snack shop, according to Ralph Nunez, director of human services.
The addition to the park, at Baldwin Park and Ramona boulevards, boosts its size to more than 12 acres.
The project, which is expected to be completed in late spring, is being funded by Los Angeles County park grants and federal community development grants, Nunez said.
He added that residents have contributed $1,600 to the tree-adoption program at Morgan Park.
