MOORPARK : Parking Ban OKd for Street Cleaning

Share

A new policy that will force Moorpark residents to remove vehicles from the street during scheduled street sweeping or have them ticketed and towed away was approved by the City Council and will go into effect Dec. 6.

The street-sweeping schedule will differ around the city, but most residents will be forced to remove their cars between noon and 4 p.m. every other Tuesday or Thursday, said Ken Gilbert, city director of public works.

An exception is the downtown area, which will be swept every Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon, Gilbert said.

Mayor Paul Lawrason said the policy, which was adopted by a 4-0 council vote Nov. 3, is aimed at allowing the sweepers to do a better job while cracking down on overcrowded areas where an inordinate amount of cars line the street.
