STUDIO CITY : Meeting to Address Rush-Hour Shortcut

Share

A community meeting will be held Wednesday to discuss a hotly debated plan by Los Angeles City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky to block a popular rush-hour shortcut from Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

Yaroslavsky called for the meeting to settle a dispute between residents who oppose the elimination of the shortcut and those who say it creates traffic and safety problems for those living nearby.

The shortcut involves turning left from northbound Laurel Canyon Boulevard onto Laurel Terrace Drive, Maxwellton or Viewcrest roads to avoid the intersection of Ventura and Laurel Canyon boulevards.

At the request of residents living along those streets, the councilman has suggested installing signs to prohibit left turns from Laurel Canyon Boulevard onto those streets from 4 to 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Osaka Sangyo University, 3921 Laurel Canyon Blvd. in Studio City.
