Irvine Women Lose in Regional Doubles

The UC Irvine women’s doubles team of Antje Fritschi and Janet Johnson lost in the first round of the Southern California ITA women’s tennis regional Friday at UC Irvine.

Fritschi and Johnson lost, 6-1, 6-2, to Arizona State’s Meredith Geiger and Kori Davidson.

In singles, Jane Chi of UCLA advanced to the semifinals, defeating Maggie Simkova of USC, 7-5, 6-2. Single semifinals start at 9 a.m. today, followed by doubles at 2 p.m.
