NEWBURY PARK : Councilwoman to Meet Constituents

Venturing into a neighborhood where she has occasionally been vilified, Thousand Oaks Councilwoman Judy Lazar will hold outdoor office hours Saturday in Newbury Park.
Lazar will answer questions from constituents from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lucky/Long’s shopping center on Newbury Road.
Over the past few months, members of the group Residents to Preserve Newbury Park have accused Lazar of selling out their neighborhood to developers. They have been especially irate about her support for an affordable housing development on Borchard Road and her suggestion that the city should consider building a golf course on Broome Ranch.
In their anger, residents have posted signs in Newbury Park condemning Lazar. A few have also made speeches warning that their votes will be important in the next election, when Lazar will be campaigning to hold on to her council seat.
The Saturday office hours in Newbury Park are part of Lazar’s plan to hold “Meet Your Council Member” sessions in a different section of Thousand Oaks every few months.
“I will answer questions, hear what your concerns are, and provide any information I have,” Lazar said. “I will be at your disposal.”
