MTA to Start Shuttles Between Stations

Share

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will begin operating shuttle bus lines between Chatsworth and the Sylmar Metrolink station and West Hills in January.

The 19.2-mile Chatsworth-Sylmar line will run every 30 minutes from the Metrolink station to business areas on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Nordhoff Street, Winnetka Avenue and other roads during morning hours, and back the other way in the late afternoon. The line is scheduled to begin service Jan. 17. One-way fares will be $1.50.

MTA spokesman Jim Smart said the line will begin service before the Metrolink station is open, because “there is sufficient ridership from people who live in the (Sylmar) area already.” Opening of the station, which has been stalled by various bureaucratic foul-ups, is expected to take place by April.

The West Hills shuttle will make an 8.1-mile loop, with stops at West Hills Hospital, Platt Village and the Fallbrook Mall every 30 minutes, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The line is scheduled to begin Jan. 31, and the one-way fare will be $1.10.

More details about both lines will be released by the MTA closer to the start up dates.
