OUTLOOK

Snider, starting his second year with the Rebels, doesn’t expect Savanna to stay on the middle ground this season. “It’s either going to be the best year we’ve ever had here or the most disappointing,” he said. Snider is leaning toward the good half of that all-or-nothing assessment, and with good reason. The Rebels have all five starters back, including first-team all-league selection Moore, a three-year starter. “Our offense revolves around Jermaine because he makes so many things happen and wants the ball in the clutch,” Snider said. Although Moore is the chief scoring threat, Snider looks to point guard Nguyen to be Savanna’s leader. Nguyen, also a fullback on the football team, provides the Rebels with a leadership presence. “Our guys know he’s in charge out there,” Snider said. “Everybody respects him.” Savanna had an outstanding summer, defeating league rival and incoming favorite Magnolia twice in overtime.
