Mayor Richard Riordan will present San Fernando Valley residents his plan to increase police protection citywide and other goals for his mayoral term during a luncheon Tuesday at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

About 300 people are expected to attend the event, which begins at 11:45 a.m. at the restaurant, 12825 Ventura Blvd.

“We try to get at least one good speaker a year,” said Joe DiFatta, event chairman for the Rotary Club of Van Nuys, which organizes the event.

Riordan and staff members, as well as the Los Angeles Police Department, have been making frequent visits to forums throughout the Valley to tout the mayor’s public safety plan, which would boost police ranks by more than 3,000 officers at a cost of $300 million.

Members of the Mid San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce, Mid Valley Community Police Council and Van Nuys Rotary and Kiwanis chapters that are sponsoring the luncheon will get about 15 minutes to question the mayor, DiFatta said.
