OUTLOOK

If everything goes according to schedule, Swanson should earn his 200th victory as a head basketball coach at about the time his team will be fighting for a playoff spot in the Olympic League. Swanson, a former professional basketball player overseas, is beginning his third season at Orange Lutheran and has posted a 14-10 league record in his first two seasons. Last year, the Lancers finished fourth, just missing postseason play. With two starters and three other lettermen returning, Swanson might not have to wait until next year. He cites the Lancers’ character and defense as the main strengths, and he believes his team could surprise some teams in league play. The Lancers have an advantage with a tough nonleague schedule that includes Villa Park and Canyon, which should give the team some experience against taller teams. Rebounding is not a strong point for Orange Lutheran.
