“It’s nice to have someone like Kempton coming back,” said Cronquist, who takes over from Steve Randall as head coach. While Cronquist has no basketball coaching experience, winning is something he is used to, compiling six State championships in cross-country during his 17 years of prep coaching. “I’m really looking forward to this season. There are some fine athletes here and they know their way around the court,” he said. In addition to Randall, Cronquist thinks Tsiramanes will get better as the season progresses. “She plays center for us, and though she doesn’t have that much experience, she’s a hard worker who is putting a lot into learning this game.” Moreno, the point guard, has excellent ballhandling abilities and is a born leader. Cronquist is also expecting some good things from Kim Menke, who played JV last season. He said she’ll be seeing action as a backup point guard. “She’s smart, quick and is a good shooter.” Duffy, a senior transfer from Riverside Woodcrest Christian, should provide some options for the Heralds.
