VAN NUYS : College to Observe Asian Awareness Day
Go east, young man. East of the San Diego Freeway, at least.
Valley College is offering a chance to sample the lifestyles of the Far East without leaving the San Fernando Valley during Asian Awareness Day Monday at the school’s Monarch Square, 5800 Fulton Ave.
Visitors to the free event, held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., can witness the martial arts of mainland China. They can also get a taste of the Orient from food vendors who will showcase their delicacies.
The event will also feature five of the Asian consulates in the region, including representatives from Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
The event is being sponsored by the Associated Students of Valley College.
