HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL / CITY SECTION PLAYOFFS : San Pedro Beats Reseda, 17-0
Senior quarterback Chris Pappas completed 11 of 17 passes for 194 yards, eight of them to senior Bryan Castaneda to lead No. 20-ranked San Pedro to a 17-0 victory over Reseda on Friday night in a Division 3-A semifinal at Daniels Field in San Pedro.
The Pirates (12-1) will face Fremont in the championship game Friday at Gardena High.
Pappas and Castaneda did not hook up on a touchdown but they set up two touchdowns by running back Jeff Williams, who scored on runs of four and one yard.
Kicker Mike DiMassa added a 28-yard field goal for the Pirates (12-1). The Regents finished 9-4.
Fremont 28, Washington 21--William Yates passed for 147 yards and a touchdown and ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns to lead Fremont to a 3-A semifinal victory at Fremont.
Fremont (11-2) advances to the championship game for the first time in 43 years. The Pathfinders have not been to the finals since 1950 when they won the last of three consecutive titles.
Washington is 8-4.
