These Youths ‘Really Know Santa Ana’

Share

* The Santa Ana High Senior AP American Government Class would like to make some comments on a previously published article entitled “Santa Ana is Singled Out as Place to Avoid” (Oct. 25). We acknowledge that Santa Ana has its problems, as does any urban area in the U.S. today. What we take offense at is that the quotes published were not from someone who has lived here and experienced the city on a day-to-day basis and has not been able to see the “good” that also exists in this city.

Most of us in the AP American Government Class were born and raised in Santa Ana. We certainly know much more of what goes on here than Sgt. Julio Nunez, who happens to live in Los Alamitos. It bothers us to see that (criminologists) say much of the crime is attributed to the high population of teen-agers, yet you fail to quote even one , and we have a lot to say!

The very fact that you failed to mention anything good about Santa Ana angered us. In our school alone there are many good things that go on and that are worthy of being published. You obviously didn’t bother to research that.

We invite you to come to our class, talk to us, see our school and get to know the people who really know Santa Ana.
