The bodies of two men were found Sunday inside a car that plunged over the Golden State Freeway into Big Tujunga Wash, authorities said.

The victims, described as Latinos in their 20s or 30s, have not been identified, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Bruce Ferrier.

The vehicle was discovered in the wash near the junction of the Golden State and Ventura freeways by a motorist who contacted the Los Angeles Fire Department, said Bob Collis, a department spokesman.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m., Ferrier said, and discovered the bodies.

Investigators suspect that the driver of the car might have been intoxicated, Ferrier said. Toxicology tests will be conducted as part of an autopsy.

Coroner’s officials have determined that the accident occurred within the last 24 hours, Ferrier said.
