Los Nietos : Appointment to Fill Vacant Seat
- Share via
Trustees for the Los Nietos School District will appoint a replacement for board member Adeline Rocha, who is leaving the district to join the school board of the Whittier Union High School District.
Rocha won a seat on the high school district board in the Nov. 2 election.
Los Nietos board members voted unanimously recently to select Rocha’s successor rather than hold a special election, which could cost at least $15,000, Supt. Chuck Menzies said.
The school district will begin advertising for applicants after Rocha officially resigns this month, Menzies said. The board has 60 days to appoint a replacement.
To qualify, applicants must live within school district boundaries and be registered to vote. The appointee will serve the last two years of Rocha’s four-year term.
Rocha was a trustee for 14 years in the Los Nietos district, which serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students in the Whittier and Santa Fe Springs areas.
