ROUNDUP : Mosley’s Overtime Basket Carries Master’s to 7th Win in Row

James Mosley’s basket with five seconds left gave The Master’s College a 71-70 overtime victory over visiting Northwest Nazarene (Ida.) in a nonconference basketball game Saturday.

The Master’s (10-2) won its seventh in a row despite shooting only 37.3% (28 of 75) from the field and being outscored by 14 points from the free-throw line.

Center Emeka Okenwa led the Mustangs with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Mosley and Doug Leaman each added 12 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

San Diego 72, Cal State Northridge 56--Katina Mines had 15 points and 16 rebounds, and Shannon Crouse added 16 points and nine rebounds for Northridge (1-6) in a nonconference game at San Diego.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Campbell Hall 65, San Fernando 52--Simeon Woodall scored a game-high 29 points and Alex Lopez added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Campbell Hall (9-1) in a semifinal game of the La Canada tournament.

Notre Dame 82, Schurr 73--Tommy Zapata scored 23 of his game-high 26 points in the first half, and Oscar Soltero and Rich Igou each added 19 points for Notre Dame (4-3) in a fifth-place semifinal game at the La Canada tournament.

Simi Valley 80, San Diego Bishops 44--Stuart Clarke scored a game-high 18 points and R.J. Pierson added 14 for Simi Valley (6-2) in the consolation semifinals of the San Diego tournament at Serra High.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Village Christian 65, Crescenta Valley 55--Lindy James and Trisha Palmquist each scored six points in the fourth period as Village Christian (10-0) pulled away in the final minutes during the championship game of the San Luis Obispo tournament. James, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and five steals.

HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING

Quartz Hill tournament--Mike Hernandez (112 pounds), Kevin Bice (152) and Rusty Glancy (heavyweight) each went undefeated in 10 matches to win individual titles and lead Highland to the team championship.
