All-County Players Honored at Breakfast : Awards: Draft, Gonzalez, parents and coaches are among the guests.

Chris Draft and Tony Gonzalez received the top awards as The Times Orange County honored its all-county football first-team members, their parents and coaches at an awards breakfast Sunday at the Anaheim Marriott.

Draft, a senior linebacker/running back at Valencia High School, was selected back of the year after leading his team in sacks (nine) and rushing yardage (1,338). The Tigers won two consecutive Division VI championships and came within two games of a third.

Gonzalez, a senior tight end/linebacker at Huntington Beach, was selected lineman of the year after leading his team in receptions (63), touchdowns (14) and tackles (131). The Oilers reached their first section championship game since 1935.

Anthony Davis, an All-American running back at USC in 1974, was the guest speaker. Davis led the Trojans in rushing yardage, scoring and kickoff returns from 1972-74. He played on two national championship football teams and two national championship baseball teams while at USC.

The first team: defensive back Geoff Beckham (Trabuco Hills), running back Enrico Bozman (Los Alamitos), quarterback Brandon Brennan (Western), punter Jason Covarrubias (Western), linebacker Chris Draft (Valencia), defensive back Brad Finneran (Santa Margarita).

Wide receiver Brian Finneran (Santa Margarita), offensive lineman Ken Foersch (Foothill), defensive lineman Derrick Ford (Mater Dei), kicker Luis Garcia (Valencia), linebacker Steve Gonzales (Newport Harbor), tight end Tony Gonzalez (Huntington Beach), defensive lineman Chris Hoke (Foothill).

Offensive lineman John Houston (Mater Dei), linebacker Ryan Klaasen (San Clemente), offensive lineman Mitch McCrimmon (Capistrano Valley), wide receiver Brad Melsby (Los Alamitos), defensive back Grant Pearsall (Villa Park), offensive lineman Jeremiah Ross (Rancho Alamitos).

Defensive back Michael-John Rzeznik (Mater Dei), linebacker Jim Stewart (Esperanza), defensive lineman Robert Torres (Los Alamitos), running back Allen Vaughan (San Clemente) and offensive lineman Terry Williams (El Dorado). Coach of the year: Myron Miller (Costa Mesa).
