Ventura County government and business employees wishing to learn more about new air pollution regulations and anti-smog technology can sign up for U. S. Environmental Protection Agency classes to be broadcast via satellite link with North Carolina State University.

The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District will host the classes, which are one- to four-day sessions beginning Jan. 26 and running through Dec. 14, 1994. Cost of the classes are $150 for each day the class meets.

North Carolina State University won the EPA contract to offer the classes and will transmit them live via satellite to Ventura County and around the country, said Karen Mahan, training coordinator for the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District.

January will mark the first time the classes have been offered to the public in Ventura County, Mahan said. “We’ve been offering them to district employees for about a year, getting the bugs worked out of the system,” she said.

Registration must be completed two weeks before the beginning of each class. Among the classes offered are Continuous Emission Monitoring, Inspection Procedures and Safety, Introduction to Air Toxics and Control of Gaseous Emissions. The classes will be held in the conference room at the district offices, 702 County Square Drive, Ventura. To register or for information, call Mahan at 645-1414.
