Cornerback Jason Sehorn, USC’s interception leader with six, has a painful right shoulder and won’t be at full strength Thursday night in the Freedom Bowl game against Utah at Anaheim Stadium.
“It’s not a life-threatening injury, so he can go in and cover someone if we need him to,” Coach John Robinson said.

For the record: USC recruit Richard Beattie is from Glendale College, not Bakersfield College.
Sehorn, a senior who came to USC in 1992 from Shasta Junior College, has played three positions at USC--wide receiver, free safety and cornerback.

Utah quarterback Mike McCoy, on transferring to Utah two years ago, two weeks after Long Beach State announced it was dropping football:
“The day of the announcement, there were 50 coaches on campus, recruiting. I got to Utah with a suitcase full of T-shirts, shorts, tennis shoes and sandals. There was three feet of snow on the ground. But I’ve wised up. Now I have two jackets. And a pair of boots, too.”
