PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Thousands Line Up for Playoff Tickets

Share

They first starting lining up at midnight, blankets in hand.

By morning, the line outside Raider headquarters in El Segundo, consisting of fans waiting to buy tickets for Sunday’s wild-card playoff game at the Coliseum against the Denver Broncos, stretched in two directions. And it never seemed to shorten.

They ordered pizzas. They collected money and sent out for doughnuts and coffee. And despite the reputation of some Raider fans for unruly and rowdy behavior, this crowd was well-behaved.

The best guess of a Raider official was that several thousand would come through the line before the day was done.

Tickets could also be purchased at the Sports Arena and at Ticketmaster outlets. Details: (310) 322-5901.

Rocket Ismail, who suffered a sprained neck on Sunday’s opening kickoff, still had trouble turning his head on Monday and his playing status is uncertain. Running back Randy Jordan, who suffered a concussion Sunday, is expected to be back in action next Sunday. . . . Kicker Jeff Jaeger finished the season with 35 field goals, tying the NFL record set by the New York Giants’ Ali Haji-Sheikh in 1983. Jaeger also led the NFL in scoring with 132 points.
