Rep. Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.) and three colleagues in the Hispanic Caucus in Congress have written baseball writers at taxpayers’ expense in hopes of getting Orlando Cepeda into the Hall of Fame in his final year of eligibility.

Center Ted Drury, projected to be among the U.S. Olympic hockey team’s top scorers at Lillehammer next month, might sit out the Games because of a knee injury. Preliminary indications were that he would be sidelined idled for as long as eight weeks. Drury was scheduled to leave the Calgary Flames and join Team USA after the NHL All-Star break.

Team USA officials also said that left wing Jim Storm would skip the Olympics and stay with the Hartford Whalers. Last week, center Derek Plante decided to remain with the Buffalo Sabres.
