Spotlight on Republic Pictures Corp.: The Los Angeles-based company, which employs more than 118 people, is in the process of completing a merger with Spelling Entertainment Group, which is 70.5% owned by Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. Commenting on the merger, Chairman Russell Goldsmith said: “We believe this merger will combine the best of both companies. The prospect of Spelling and Republic, together allied with Blockbuster, promises to be a very formidable entertainment provider around the world.”
