Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a double slaying here in 1992, authorities said Monday.

Ralph Ervin Dennis, who has no permanent address, was arrested without incident in San Diego on Friday, according to a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Dennis and two other people allegedly broke into the home of Robert Klecker, 40, the morning of Nov. 17. Klecker and Karen Stevens, 30, were both fatally shot in the head without any apparent sign of struggle, sheriff’s officials said. Klecker’s 14-year-old son discovered the bodies on the floor when he returned from school at 4 p.m.

Lt. Dan Martini said the break-in was drug-related.

A second suspect, who currently is serving an unrelated sentence in Texas, also has been linked to the slayings, Martini said. Marcus Edward Marsh, 23, will be extradited to California to face the same charges when he completes jail time in Texas. Martini said he did not know how long that would be.

According to sheriff’s investigator Leo Vandor, two of Klecker’s handguns stolen at the time of his death were recovered in Hanford, Calif., shortly after the killings. Dennis was selling them illegally on the street there, Vandor said.

The Sheriff’s Department said the third suspect, whom they would not identify, is believed to have fled the country.

Dennis and Marsh will be arraigned Wednesday.
