COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Woodberry Leads No. 3 Kansas Over Oklahoma, 94-84

Senior Steve Woodberry scored 26 points and started a run midway through the second half as third-ranked Kansas beat Oklahoma, 94-84, Monday night in the Big Eight opener for both teams at Lawrence, Kan.

Greg Ostertag had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Kansas (16-1), which outrebounded Oklahoma, 57-41, and has beaten every team on the boards during its 12-game winning streak.

Jeff Webster scored 30 points for Oklahoma (8-4), which was scoreless during a three-minute stretch in the second half.

No. 2 Duke 89, Brown 71--Cherokee Parks scored 25 points and Grant Hill had 19 to lead the Blue Devils at Durham, N.C.

Antonio Lang of Duke (10-0) sprained his left ankle in the first half and did not return.

No. 16 Connecticut 75, No. 18 Syracuse 67--Donyell Marshall had 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Huskies at Hartford, Conn.

Connecticut (13-1) is 4-0 in the Big East for the first time. Syracuse (9-2, 2-2) lost in its first road game of the season.

OTHER GAMES

Tecon Madden of UC Santa Barbara (7-7, 2-1) made all four of his three-point shots in a 53-33 Big West Conference victory over Utah State (5-8, 2-2) at Santa Barbara. . . . Fresno State (8-5, 3-1) withstood a late surge by New Mexico (11-3, 3-1) for a 69-65 Western Athletic Conference victory at Fresno.

Oklahoma State (11-4) recorded its 49th consecutive nonconference home victory with a 103-45 victory over West Texas (6-4) at Stillwater, Okla.
