An 18-year-old Oxnard woman was killed early Sunday after the car she was traveling in left the roadway and rolled into a celery field along 5th Street, police said.

Patricia Perez was pronounced dead at the scene after she and two others were ejected from the car, investigators said.

Two other people in the car sustained injuries described as moderate to serious.

Oxnard police responded to the traffic accident about 12:30 a.m. Sunday along 5th Street just west of Victoria Avenue. Investigators could not say what caused the car to leave the road or who was driving it.

Senior Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said there is no indication that alcohol played a role in the crash but that toxicology tests would be done on Perez.

Perez, who was sitting in the left rear seat and was not wearing a seat belt, is survived by her parents and at least one brother, Stevens said.

Four other Oxnard residents were also injured in the accident, police said: Charles Rosales, 18; Victor Madueno, 18; Perla Ruiz, 23, and Dinnie Franco, 24.
