COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Purdue Comes Back to Beat Indiana in Overtime, 83-76

Glenn Robinson had 33 points and 12 rebounds Tuesday night as the 12th-ranked Boilermakers rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat No. 8 Indiana, 83-76, in overtime at West Lafayette, Ind.

Robinson made only nine of 22 shots from the field, but he made 13 of 15 free throws.

“If I’m hitting, I’m hitting,” said Robinson, who has been in a three-game shooting slump. “If I’m not, I’m not. As long as we’re winning, it doesn’t matter.”

Cuonzo Martin added a season-high 23 points for the Boilermakers (15-1, 3-1 Big Ten) and sent the game into overtime with a free throw with 20 seconds to play in regulation.

Indiana (10-3, 3-1) did not score for the first four minutes of the extra period.

DePaul 78, No. 6 Massachusetts 76--Belefia Parks hit a tie-breaking three-pointer with 24 seconds left and Tom Kleinschmidt scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half at Rosemont, Ill., as DePaul ended UMass’ 10-game winning streak.

Parks’ jump shot put DePaul (11-3) ahead, 76-73, and Kleinschmidt’s two free throws 10 seconds later gave the Blue Demons a five-point lead over Massachusetts (13-2).

Florida 59, No. 7 Kentucky 57--Craig Brown made two free throws with 7.6 seconds to play to lift Florida at Gainesville, Fla.

Kentucky (13-3, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) led, 47-40, with under six minutes left, before Florida (14-2, 4-0) went on a 15-4 run to take a 55-51 lead.

No. 16 Syracuse 92, St. John’s 82--Lawrence Moten scored 31 points and Syracuse (11-2, 4-2 Big East) was eight for eight from the free-throw line in the final 63 seconds at Syracuse, N.Y., as the Orangemen sent St. John’s (7-7, 1-5) to its fifth loss in a row.

OTHER GAMES

Jerry McCullough made a go-ahead free throw with 1:33 to play helping Pittsburgh (9-4, 3-3 Big East) to a 77-75 victory over Boston College (11-5, 3-3) at Newton, Mass. . . . . . . It took overtime to do it, but for the first time in 11 years of playing the Rebels, New Mexico State (12-1, 4-0 Big West) defeated Nevada Las Vegas (6-5, 2-1) at Las Vegas, 95-91, Monday night.
