Beltran Heads Marathon Field
Marcial Beltran, former Fullerton College and Occidental College star, is one of two runners rated as the class of the field in the San Diego Marathon today.
Beltran, who lives in Mexico City, ran a 2-hour 27-minute marathon in Las Vegas recently. He shares the favorite’s role with Jose Luis Chuela of Guadalajara, who has a personal best of 2:12:02 in the 26.2-mile event and ran a 2:20:08 in San Francisco last year.
No elite runners are entered in the women’s division. Kim Campo of San Diego is the favorite.
