* Glendale Unified School District

Estimated damage: $750,000

Building damage: Most severe at Glendale and Hoover high schools. Large cracks to one of six columns holding up a roof in front of Glendale High School library. Cracks along a 10-foot-high concrete wall that supports the deck of the Hoover High School swimming pool.

Light fixtures on ceilings fell in 10 classrooms at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta. Water leaks reported in the district’s Fremont Elementary and Hoover High schools.

Schools on the southwest portion of the district, Hart High and Placerita Junior High, were the most affected. Damage is estimated at $7 million to $20 million.

Hart High School: A portion of the auditorium ceiling, which contains asbestos, is down; cafeteria floor is buckled; two gyms need extensive repairs; a building that houses 20 classrooms is suspected to have some structural damage; administration building has some structural damage.

Placerita Junior School: Severe structural damage; some broken windows; some light fixtures came down.

Arroyo Seco Junior High School: minor damage.

Bowman Continuation High School: almost no damage.

Canyon High School: minor damage.

District offices: almost no damage.

Sierra Vista Junior High School: minor damage.

Saugus High School: minor damage.

Supt. Walter Swanson will give an update on the William S. Hart Union High School District from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday on KBET (AM 1220) and Channel 18 on Cablevision.

The following Catholic schools will be closed until further notice:

* Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Santa Clarita

* St. Anne School in Santa Monica

* St. Cyril of Jerusalem School in Encino

* St. Euphrasia School in Granada Hills

* St. John Baptist de la Salle School in Granada Hills

Cal Lutheran’s spring semester graduate classes in Woodland Hills and North Hollywood will be postponed until Monday, Jan. 31. Other colleges will be open.

The Ventura campus of Cal State Northridge expects to start the spring semester Feb. 7 instead of Jan. 31.

The following Simi Valley schools were scheduled to reopen Monday, while the district’s 10 remaining schools should be repaired for students’ return by Tuesday or Wednesday. For updated information over the weekend, call (805) 520-6500.
