Ritz Reaction

I used to be in the hotel business and the article, “How the Ritz Rates” (Dec. 19), almost made me ill. Two days at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel for only $1,003.05. It is this type of hotel operation that gives “luxury” hotels such a bad name. It has nothing to do with elegance . . . On the contrary, it caters to the self-indulgent, arrogant, stupid and vain and it emphasizes the greed of management.
