The South Bay Contemporary Museum of Art II in Long Beach has announced that 50% of the proceeds from “HeArt Attack”--a Valentine’s Day silent auction of “mail art” sent by artists throughout the United States--will benefit the Red Cross Earthquake Relief Fund. Works will be on view Feb. 12-19, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1969 Obispo Ave. The free opening reception and auction is Feb. 14, from 7 to 10 p.m. Information: (310) 985-0242.

East Indian dancer Ramya Harishankar of Irvine has been recommended for a spot on the Touring Artists Directory (1995-1997) of the California Arts Council, which will vote on the matter Thursday at a regular meeting at Santa Ana’s Bowers Museum of Cultural Art. Presenters of touring roster artists receive partial fee subsidies from the council, which will convene at 10 a.m. The council will also discuss the upcoming Governor’s Conference on the Arts and its new license plate program.
