For Sale in Britain: Bunker With a View

LONDON —
With the Cold War over, Britain’s Defense Ministry has put 21 underground bunkers up for sale, euphemistically calling them “small country estates with a view.”
The bunkers, measuring 15 by 3 1/2 feet, were constructed to be manned by soldiers in the event of nuclear war.
Ministry officials say the bunkers could make ideal wine cellars, bases for camping or even ultra-quiet country retreats.
Many are situated in areas of natural beauty with lovely views, they said.
