Man Killed in Fiery Car Crash
A man driving a stolen car ran a traffic light Tuesday, lost control and smashed into a parked car that caught fire and killed the occupant, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
Firefighters who arrived at the crash scene at 5:45 p.m. did not know there was anyone in the car until they extinguished the fire, said Police Sgt. Ron Ryan of the Valley Traffic Division.
The driver of the stolen car, whose identity was not available, was treated for chest cuts at North Hollywood Medical Center, Ryan said.
The accident occurred near the corner of Lankershim Boulevard and Hesby Street, near the dead man’s home, police said.
The driver will probably be charged with felony manslaughter, Ryan said.
