FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Classrooms Burned in High School Fire

Share

An electrical fire burned two portable classrooms at Fountain Valley High School early Wednesday, and two firefighters sprained their ankles putting out the blaze, a spokesman for the fire department said.

A resident reported smelling smoke about 1:30 a.m. from the school at 17816 Bushard St., said Don Heinbuch.

Responding firefighters saw a glow behind the campus and found the portable building containing the two classrooms in flames, he said. About 20 firefighters controlled the two-alarm blaze in 15 minutes.

Investigators determined that an electrical part of a television failed and caused the fire, Heinbuch said.

The blaze caused $60,000 worth of damage to the building, $50,000 to the contents and $7,500 to an adjacent building, he said.
