Dan Forsman, a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, tied Gary McCord and Mark Lye with a six-under-par 65 to lead the Phoenix Open after a weather-delayed first round.

Play was held up for 40 minutes because of frost on the TPC of Scottsdale course, and two groups were unable to finish before dark.

Emilee Klein of Studio City was included in a group of eight players named Thursday by the United States Golf Assn. to the 1994 U.S. Curtis Cup team.

The international competition for women amateurs between teams from the U.S., and Great Britain-Ireland is scheduled for July 30-31 at the Honors Course, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

A team of players from Porter Valley Country Club of Northridge advanced to the second round of the Southern California PGA Toyota Team Championship by defeating defending champion Twin Oaks Golf Club of San Marcos in a first-round match at Indian Ridge Country Club in Palm Desert.

The Porter Ranch team is comprised of head pro Rick Booth, Gary Fox of Northridge and Andrea Gaston of Canoga Park. The match is scheduled to be televised Feb. 13 on Prime Ticket.
