With a sellout crowd waving cards congratulating him on his 900th NBA victory, Lenny Wilkens did something he rarely does during a game--smile.

“Reaching 900 wins is certainly an achievement, but my thoughts are always on the game,” Wilkens said Wednesday night after his Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic, 118-99, at Atlanta.

Wilkens, at 900-760, trails only Red Auerbach’s 938 in regular-season victories. Dominique Wilkins scored 26 points to lead the Hawks. Shaquille O’Neal scored 22 points for Orlando.
