BOYLE HEIGHTS : Benefit Planned for Youth Center
The annual fund-raiser for the Hollenbeck Youth Center, which has offered sports programs since 1976, will be Wednesday at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.
During the lunch event, the center and the Los Angeles Dodgers will honor City Fire Chief Donald O. Manning and County Fire Chief Michael Freeman as the 1994 Dodger Salute Men of the Year for their work last year.
About 1,000 people are expected to attend the $100-per-plate event to help the youth center continue its programs in basketball, karate, boxing, weightlifting and other sports. The center is at 2015 East 1st St.
The programs serve 6,000 youths each year.
