Lancaster Man Held in Slaying of Acquaintance
A Lancaster man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a clothing store manager whose body was found last Monday in his Palmdale home, sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.
Raymond Beltran, 22, was being held without bail at the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station following his arrest Friday afternoon in the shooting death of Steven Lee Stewart.
The slain man’s body was discovered by a co-worker Monday night after he failed to show up for work, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Irma Becerra said.
Beltran, described by Becerra as “a recent acquaintance” of the 38-year-old Stewart, was arrested at his Lancaster home, where Becerra said officers found property belonging to Stewart and a gun believed to be the weapon involved.
