As expected, Michael Nathanson on Monday was named president and chief executive of Arnon Milchan’s New Regency Productions.

Nathanson, the former worldwide production president at Columbia Pictures, will run day-to-day operations at the independent company, which is located on the Warner Bros. lot. The company plans to increase its output to as many as 15 movies a year.

“This is a great opportunity,” Nathanson said. “I now have the comfort of being a principal architect in almost 15 pictures a year, without the bureaucracy of a big studio system.”
