AZUSA: A 40-year-old store clerk was killed in a robbery Saturday night. Raj Kumar Sharma of Covina was working at Michael’s Mini Mart at 575 E. Arrow Highway when a man burst into the store about 9 p.m. and shot him several times in the head and chest. An undetermined amount of cash was stolen. No arrests have been made.

INDUSTRY: Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call of a cargo theft about 3:10 a.m. Friday at a Bullock’s warehouse at 16633 Gale Ave. arrived to find a man trying to hook up a semi-truck tractor and drive off with $86,736 worth of stainless steel kitchenware. Dale Smith, 33, of Los Angeles was arrested after he jumped out of the cab and allegedly tried to flee.

PASADENA: A box of human medical specimens--including a skull, spinal column, collar bone, pelvic bone, femur and a side of ribs--was stolen from the parked car of a medical student in the 2300 block of Dudley Street Saturday morning.

PASADENA: A prowling suspect who was reportedly fleeing police crashed his car into another vehicle Sunday night, killing the other driver. Michael Ikeda, 32, of Altadena was killed when a car driven by Gerardo Mendoza, 33, of Hawaiian Gardens, ran a red light at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Mendoza had been spotted by San Marino police allegedly prowling around houses about 10:45 p.m. on San Marino Avenue. He fled north into Pasadena along Lake Avenue and police gave pursuit. He has been charged with murder.

POMONA: Police arrested a homicide suspect Feb. 3. Samuel Bernice Williams, 32, of Ontario was taken into custody without incident in Ontario after officers stopped his 1978 Cadillac. Williams is wanted in connection with the Jan. 31 slaying of Tom Villanueva Granados, 31, of Pomona, who was found shot to death at Holy Cross Cemetery.

POMONA: Olther Laskey, 24, of Pomona was found shot to death in his home in the 1100 block of North Dudley Street on Sunday evening. Several witnesses and neighbors have been questioned but no arrests have been made.

ROWLAND HEIGHTS: The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday opened an Asian Service Center at 18333 E. Colima Road. Five deputies--fluent in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese--will be stationed there to provide outreach to the Asian community.
