Good Rips : Hall of Famers Scoff at Jordan’s Chances

As Michael Jordan took batting practice in Chicago, several baseball Hall of Famers threw brush-back pitches Wednesday at him and his career change.

“I’d say he’s got two chances: slim and none,” Ralph Kiner told the Citrus County Chronicle before dedication ceremonies Wednesday for the Ted Williams Retrospective Museum and Library. “And slim is going out the door. If Ted Williams were his teacher I’d say he has a chance, but he’s got Walt Hriniak, and I don’t think Walt Hriniak knows what he’s talking about when it comes to hitting.”

“On a scale of one to 10 with 10 being the highest, I’d say he’s a one,” Al Kaline said.

Bob Feller, who won 266 games and threw three no-hitters, said Jordan “couldn’t hit a curveball with an ironing board.”

Feller suggested that signing the former Chicago Bull star to a minor league contract was probably a ploy by the White Sox.

“I think he’s a great basketball player and a great athlete,” Feller said. “But if (the White Sox) were serious about it, they would have had him in an instructional league this winter. They will sell some tickets, though.”
