Free Maps Show Highway Closures
A customized Thomas Bros. map that shows which Southern California highways were closed because of damage from the Northridge earthquake is available free at two locations in Ventura County.
The maps do not designate routes around the closed sections of freeway, because those frequently change, distributors said. For detour information, highway users can call the California Highway Information Network at (800) 427-ROAD.
The Thomas Bros. maps, distributed by PacTel Cellular Corp., can be found at Al & Ed’s Autosound in Thousand Oaks or GTE Phone Mart in Oxnard. The toll-free highway information hot line is provided by the California Department of Transportation and Pacific Bell Information Services.
