Share

Soroptimist International of Buena Park will hold its eighth annual community benefit luncheon Wednesday, with proceeds going to local nonprofit groups.

The money raised will be spent to buy shoes for needy children, give food, clothing and shelter to low-income families and the homeless, and provide activities for underprivileged youth.

Among local groups receiving funds will be the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park, the Speech and Language Development Center, Buena Park Coordinating Council and the DARE Program.

The public is invited and a $5 donation is requested for the luncheon, which will be served continuously from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door at the Buena Park Community Recreation Center, 8150 Knott Ave.

Patsy Marshall, publicity chairwoman, said the organization holds several fund-raisers during the year including the Silverado Ball, which is the kickoff to the city’s fall Silverado Days, and an annual garage sale in April.

Marshall said the group raises about $5,000 a year.

Luncheon tickets are also available at the Buena Park Chamber of Commerce office, 6280 Manchester Blvd., Suite 102, or by calling (714) 821-3620.
