COLLEGE BASKETBALL : Indiana Beats Illinois, 82-77
Humiliated in a 50-point loss to Minnesota on Sunday, No. 17 Indiana responded Tuesday night with an 82-77 victory over Illinois at Indianapolis. Damon Bailey had 22 and Alan Henderson had 20 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and four assists.
No. 14 Syracuse 71, Miami 69--Lawrence Moten’s three-point play with 42 seconds left helped lift the Orangemen at Miami.
No. 23 Boston College 95, St. John’s 76--Bill Curley scored 30 points and had 11 rebounds in his final home game for the Eagles.
OTHER GAMES
Billy McCaffrey scored 21 points and Frank Seckar added 19 as Vanderbilt spoiled Tennessee Coach Wade Houston’s home farewell with an 84-67 victory. . . . Jerome Lambert scored a game-high 20 points to lead Baylor to a 95-92 victory over Texas A&M; in double overtime at College Station, Tex.
