Orange County Supervisor William G. Steiner and Mayor Tom Daly said Friday they will meet next week to discuss what role the county might play in trying to prevent the Los Angeles Rams from moving out of Anaheim.

Kathleen Crowley, an aide to Steiner, said the supervisor is concerned about a possible Ram departure and is interested in exploring ways that the county might help to prevent it. She said Steiner has not yet identified what form of help the county might be able to provide.

Daly said the city is interested in any support the county, business community or other groups and agencies might be able to offer.

The meeting, which is part of a regularly scheduled get-together between the supervisor and Anaheim officials, will be held Thursday.

In addition to the Rams issue, Daly said he and Steiner will discuss the Anaheim Stadium scoreboard repairs and renovation, as well as tourism issues.

Daly and Councilman Bob D. Simpson also have a meeting scheduled with Rams Executive Vice President John Shaw next week.

Ram officials have told city leaders they are exploring a possible move to another city with better financial opportunities. Shaw said the team will notify the city May 3 that it will exercise an escape clause in its Anaheim Stadium lease agreement. The notification allows the team to look elsewhere, but does not preclude it from continuing negotiations with Anaheim.
