Man Critically Wounded in Street Attack
A 22-year-old man remained in critical condition Saturday after he was shot in the chest, authorities said.
Investigators found Laguna Santos of Santa Ana lying in the street on the 200 block of East 4th Street at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Santos appeared to have run at least half a block east on 4th Street before he collapsed, Sgt. Dick Faust said. Witnesses to the shooting left the area before officers arrived.
Paramedics treated Santos at the scene and took him to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he later underwent surgery, Faust said.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, police said. No weapon was recovered and no arrests were made Saturday.
